George Ochieng:         Class 8                  Age 14
George’s mother, his only living parent, died last year (2006). He lives with an uncle who has two girls of his own.  Before George came to Amagoro Junior Academy, he was so traumatized by his history that he saw nothing positive in life. He did not think that he would even live long enough to reach Class 8.

Ruth Amoding:             Class 5                  Age 14
Ruth’s father, her only living parent, died in 2005. She lives with her aunt who has three children of her own. Ruth attends school during the day but when she returns to her aunt’s home, Ruth is forced to do most of the housework. Ruth felt that her life was pointless. Ruth didn’t even start school at the regular age for children because she thought that she wouldn’t amount to anything.

Leonard Ochieng :        Class 4                  Age 13
Leonard’s mother, his only living parent, died in 2003. He now lives with his aunt who has six children of her own. Leonard’s aunt always considered him last, after her six children in everything that was done.

All the three students say that their first impression of AJA  was eating three meals a day while at school. Three meals a day was something that they never had before. Second, they feel loved by both teachers and other students. Third, there is a calm and good atmosphere conducive for learning. Last, they all feel the place has become an eye opener for them to a brighter future.

All the three have expressed that God loves them and that they feel God is kind, caring, and good. They say that God has allowed them to live up until  this time where they can attend a school where they can be loved, taught, and helped. It is their prayer to complete their studies and get jobs so that they will be able to help their sisters and brothers.

It is therefore our earnest prayer that we shall be able to help these students to have a better and brighter future.
